How to commission a painting

  1. Contact the artist with your requirements. Paintings required by a deadline, eg as a birthday present, need to be ordered well in advance. If your commission is based on a previous artwork, consider how you can make it personal eg by selecting favourite landmarks or having yourself (and your pets) featured in the painting.

  2. Paintings are on canvas and unframed unless otherwise agreed. Framing can be done at an extra cost or advice can be given on suitable frames and framers.

  3. The price is agreed at the outset when a deposit of 25% of the price is payable. There can be a perception that commissions are more expensive than paintings exhibited for sale but Sara charges the same as long as the size is the same and the contents similar.

  4. A digital photo of the completed painting is sent for approval, or you are welcome to view it in the studio. Once approved the painting is varnished.

  5. Payment is made on collection by cash or bank transfer.

  6. Gift vouchers are tailor-made to the recipient. The price of the painting is agreed with the purchaser and a deposit of 25% payable on purchase with the balance paid on delivery as above.

  7. Images of paintings may be used for publicity purposes.
